The C.L.E.A.R. Program (Community Law Enforcement Addiction Recovery) is a collaborative effort offering Sussex County adults and their loved ones help for an addiction problem.

Simply walk into the Vernon Police Department (Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.) without fear of questioning, arrest or prosecution from law enforcement. Participants will be paired with a trained recovery coach who will serve as a personal guide and mentor to recovery by connecting them to resources and offering ongoing recovery support.

  • Please bring a photo ID if possible.
  • Tell the official at the reception window that you want to participate in the C.L.E.A.R. Program.
  • A designated officer will bring you through the screening process which includes filling out some paperwork. If you are in possession of illegal substances and paraphernalia, the officer will take them from you and destroy them appropriately.
  • The officer will connect you with a trained recovery coach who will serve as a personal guide/mentor to recovery and who will help you understand your options, navigate treatment services, assist in developing a plan for recovery and provide ongoing recovery support.

Your participation in C.L.E.A.R. is completely voluntary and free of charge.
