Old Business
Farmer’s Market 2020
The whole season went well. More vendors were added, the market got bigger and better.
There is room for improvement for next year.
Vernon Chamber Charities and the Chamber of Commerce may become involved in the running of the market, along with the Rec Board.
Topics to be discussed:
Possible new placement in town? Heaven Hill has been showing interest in hosting, as they have a customer base in place, but it would have to move for the fall.
Music is needed - the goal is to grow big enough to be able to pay musicians and a market manager.
Tiered pricing for next year:
* 1 price for whole season
* Other prices for: 1/2 season
Weekly
Mishelle is looking to vendors to get some feedback on their opinions and thoughts for the market.
Trail or Treat
Went really well, Jeanne would like to continue this idea for next year
Suggestions and thoughts
* Maybe continue with signing up in advance
* Transitions worked well, ample parking
* Police were a huge help
* 55-60 slots were filled for each time session
Turkey Trot - Thanksgiving, 2020
Shirts are ordered.
Some people want to make a cash donation for Harvest House. Mishelle should be contacted in reference to cash donations.
This could be a great turnout since it is virtual. The time span to complete the race is a week.
80 are registered as of 11/4. All proceeds go to Harvest House.
Swag bags include:
* Honey stix
* Nomad spices
* Decal from another FM vendor - “I run the hills of Vernon. What’s your superpower?”
* Bags can be picked up at municipal building
New Business
Tree Lighting
Waiting on information from Jeanne Buffalino
Snowshoe:
Not going to happen this year in same form
Bill, the timer from the snowshoe, had an idea for a triathlon
Ideas:
* Possible snowshoe/hike at Wawayanda State Park or Great Gorge.
* Have hike/snowshoe at end of January (January 23rd or 30th)
* Can be called “Embrace the Winter”
* Mishelle will contact Wawayanda park officials
Spring
Maybe a fly fishing clinic? This idea was presented by a woman who does clinics for Ridgewood Red. She has offered to teach fly fishing. More information is needed
Board Opening
We regret there is an opening on the Rec. Board, but we are in need of another member.
