Winners of Fishing Derby 2008

On a beautiful sunny day, the annual Vernon Township Recreation Fishing Derby took place at Firemen’s Pavilion Pond on Saturday May 17, 2008. With the pond stocked with over 300 fishes including bluegill, catfish and trout, 116 children ranging from pre-school to 6th grade participated in the event.

Biggest Fish- William Sherry 12” Trout & Ashley Krieger 17” Trout

Most Fish- Hunter Benazet with 13 & Ashley Bauerferd with 11

Smallest Fish- Hayden Wozinski & Shane Walsh 4 1/4” sunfish

Special thanks to Greenback Bassmasters who helped with the tallying and measuring of the fishes caught and the Vernon Fire Department for the use of the grounds. Other sponsors included Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits, Wal*Mart and Burger King. The derby was a great success with each child receiving a bag of goodies and most importantly having fun.
