Department Profile
The Vernon Township Police Dept. officially began operating
on January 1, 1975. When established over twenty-four
years ago, the police force consisted of a chief of police
and ten police officers, a secretary and five civilian
dispatchers. The department at this time was equipped
with four marked police cars and one four-wheel drive
patrol vehicle.
Today
the Vernon Township Police Department is functioning with
31 full time sworn police officers, two administrative
clerks, two record clerks, and seven public safety telecommunicators.
The
twenty-nine sworn personnel are assigned as follows:
1 Chief: Roy Wherry
1 Lieutenant / Administrative: Gary Gardner
1 Lieutenant / Patrol: Ken Kuzicki
1 Sergeant / Administrative & Technical: Randy Mills
1 Sergeant / Detective Bureau: Stephen Moran
3 Sergeants / Patrol Shift Supervisors: John Kazmierczak,
Robert Walsh, Daniel Zill
2 Detectives: Thomas Zabriskie, Sean Talt
1 Detective / School Resource Officer: Brian Jernick

Also, the department has certain personnel trained in

Traffic Safety
The department dispatches all emergency services in the
Township of Vernon, Sussex Borough, and Wantage Township.
The department motto is "To Serve with Dignity," and our
commitment is to keep Vernon Township a desirable place
