RESOLUTION #R07-274

AUTHORIZING THE USE OF THE NEW JERSEY STATE CONTRACT PROGRAM FOR THE PURCHASE OF VARIOUS SIZE TIRES FOR TOWNSHIP FLEET VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT FOR USE BY THE VERNON TOWNSHIP DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

WHEREAS, the Township of Vernon has a need to various size tires for Township fleet vehicles and equipment for use by the Department of Public Works; and

WHEREAS, Vernon Township is a member of the New Jersey State Contract Program; and

WHEREAS, prices were received through competitive bidding from the said program; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has reviewed the Cooperative prices, and determined it would be cost effective for the Township to utilize the State Contract program in lieu of public bidding by private contractors; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works recommends that the Township Council pass this resolution authorizing use of the State Contract program for the purchase of various size tires for Township fleet vehicles and equipment; and

WHEREAS, the cost estimate for the purchase is $10,361.30; and

WHEREAS, the vendor for the Program for this purchase is Service Tire Truck Center.; and

WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer of the Township of Vernon, has determined and certified the funds of this agreement; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Township Council of the Township of Vernon that the New Jersey State Contract Program be utilized to purchase various size tires for Township fleet vehicles and equipment, and that it will be purchased from Service Tire Truck Center, in the amount not to exceed $10,361.30; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Township Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute such documents as necessary to effectuate the purpose of this Resolution; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief Financial Officer has certified the availability of funds; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption according to law.

I hereby certify that the above resolution is a true copy of the resolution adopted by the Vernon Township Council at their regular meeting held on Monday, December 10, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in the Vernon Municipal Building, 21 Church St., Vernon, New Jersey.
