RESOLUTION #R07-202

AUTHORIZING A CHANGE ORDER #1 IN THE AMOUNT OF A COST REDUCTION OF $58,125.00 WITH PACT CONSTRUCTION FOR THE CONTRACT NO. 3 – SEWER TRANSMISSION AND COLLECTION LINES

WHEREAS, the Township of Vernon entered into a contract with Pact Construction for Contract No. 3 for the construction of the sewer transmission and collection lines pursuant to Resolution #07-131 which contract provided for an expenditure of $1,314,280.00; and

WHEREAS, the contract provides for excavation and repaving certain sections of Route 94 and Route 515 for the purpose of installing the 2” low pressure force main and 8” gravity main with property connections to existing businesses; and

WHEREAS, conditions warranted review of proposed method of installation, an alternate method of installation was developed; and

WHEREAS, the engineering firm of Cerenzio and Panaro, P.C., Pact Construction, and Township Engineer, Lou Kneip, recommend installation of these lines by a method known as directional drilling would be a more effective and efficient method to install the 2” low pressure force main and 8” gravity main; and

WHEREAS, by utilizing this method there will be a cost reduction to the Township in the amount of approximately $58,125.00 therefore altering the specifications of the contract; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of Vernon, County of Sussex and the State of New Jersey as follows:

1. Change Order #1 is hereby authorized in the total amount of a cost reduction of $58,125.00 to be applied to the total contract.

2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption according to law.

I hereby certify that the above resolution is a true copy of the resolution adopted by the Vernon Township Council at their regular meeting held on Monday, September 24, 2007 in the Vernon Municipal Center, 21 Church Street, Vernon, New Jersey.
