RESOLUTION #R07-127
SUPPORTING PHASE IV OF THE VERNON TOWNSHIP BIKE PATH NJDOT GRANT APPLICATION
WHEREAS, the Township of Vernon has been contacted by the Governor’s Office and advised of the New Jersey Department Of Transportation (NJDOT) Local Bikeway Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the Township of Vernon has already constructed Phase I, II and III of the Bike Path Program, from Prices Switch Road to Maple Grange Community Park, largely through grants obtained from the NJDOT Local Aid Program; and
WHEREAS, the Township of Vernon desires to apply for another NJDOT Bike Path Grant, to connect the Maple Grange Community Park bike path to five (5) local township schools, approximately two (2) miles in length; and
WHEREAS, the Township of Vernon has presented the proposal to the Vernon Township Board of Education for their consideration; and
WHEREAS, the Vernon Township Board of Education was receptive to the proposal, and would welcome a bike path to safely connect the schools to the local park, to promote exercise and pedestrian access.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Vernon Township Council hereby supports submission of a grant application to the NJDOT for Phase IV of the bike path, and will work cooperatively with the Board of Education in the planning and development of the bike path if the grant is approved.

I hereby certify that the above resolution is a true copy of a Resolution adopted by the Vernon Township Council at their regular meeting held on Monday, June 25, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in the Vernon Municipal Building, 21 Church Street, Vernon, New Jersey.
