Reasons For Delays In The Permit Process
Common
reasons for Health Department permit process delays:
1.
The property block and lot numbers are not provided on
the application or are incorrect.
2.
Building application: review fee is not paid.
3.
Building application: a drawing of the existing room layout
is not included with the application.
4.
Building application: room types are not labeled on the
plan. The Health Department must determine if the number
of bedrooms proposed exceeds the number of bedrooms that
are existing.
5. Building application: the location of the septic tank
and disposal system, and the well is not shown on the
site plan. Or the septic tank, disposal system and well
location information is not available from the Health
Department files or is plans from the Health Department
files are drawn at a different scale as the application
site plan.
6. Septic application: Engineer soil evaluation forms
do not correspond to the Health Department inspector report.
7. Septic application: Engineer soil evaluation forms
do not include the soil suitability class or the limiting
zones.
8. Septic application: a signed/ sealed PLS survey is
not provided with new construction applications.
9.
Septic application: if a retaining wall is proposed, the
construction details (heights, material) are not provided.
10.
Septic application: if a pressure dose system is proposed,
the dose volume does not include the distribution network
and delivery pipe volume.
11.
Engineers submit plans which do not comply with regulations.
12.
Engineers, contractors, or well drillers inform clients
that applications have been sent to the Health Department
when no application has been sent. The applicant should
verify that an application has been made by calling the
Health Department or asking their engineer, contractor
or driller for a copy of a application fee receipt.
