Animal Care Tips
Keep
regular vet visits and get required vaccinations.
License and provide ID for your pet.
Never
leave animals outside without proper food and shelter.
Walk your dog on a leash.
Prevent
dog bites. Keep your pet in mind when you have visitors
in your home. Never leave a baby or small child alone
with a dog. Always be on the lookout for potentially dangerous
situations. Never disturb a dog while it's sleeping, eating,
or caring for her young. If a dog approaches you, stay
still and calm. Don't scream or make eye contact. Speak
calm and firm to the dog. Remain still until the dog leaves,
or back away slowly. Never turn and run. The dog may chase
you and bite. If you are attacked and knocked to the ground,
curl into a ball and put your hands over your head and
face. Report all dog bites to your local police, health
dept. and animal control.
Have
your pets spayed or neutered.
Never
leave your pets unattended in parked vehicles. They might
get stolen. Someone might get bit attempting to pet the
animal or it may get too hot inside the vehicle and cause
your animal harm, maybe even death.
