AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF VERNON
BE IT ORDAINED, by the Township Council of the Township of Vernon, County of Sussex and State of New Jersey as follows:
1. Article 12 – DEPARTMENT OF RECREATION AND LEISURE SERVICES, shall be amended to include: 2-12.3 Division of Parks and Recreation
(a) Within the Department of Recreation and Leisure there shall be a Division of Parks and Recreation, the head of which shall be the Director of Recreation. The Township Manager shall appoint subordinates as necessary to this Division.
(b) The Division of Parks and Recreation shall be responsible, among other responsibilities which may be assigned from time to time, for the maintenance and upkeep of all Township parks, playgrounds, ball fields and other recreational facilities of the Township, whether owned or leased, and to ensure their safe operation.
(c) Employees from the Department of Public Works shall be utilized to assist the Division of Parks and Recreation pursuant to the direction of the Township Manager or designee.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, by the Township Council of the Township of Vernon, County of Sussex and State of New Jersey as follows:
2. Article 8 – DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, shall be amended as follows:
2-8.7 Division of Buildings and Grounds; Assistant Director as head; functions.
(b)(1) Be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all Township buildings, whether owned or leased and ensure their safe operation and to assist the Department of Recreation and Leisure, Division of Parks and Recreation with maintenance of parks, playgrounds, ball fields and other recreational facilities of the Township as directed by the Township Manager or designee.
3. If any article, section, subsection, term or condition of this ordinance is declared invalid or illegal for any reason, the balance of this Ordinance shall be deemed severable and shall remain in full force and effect.
4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances or resolutions that are in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are repealed to the extent necessary.
5. This Ordinance shall take effect after publication and passage according to law.
NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the above ordinance was introduced and passed on first reading at the Regular Meeting of the Township Council of the Township of Vernon in the County of Sussex, State of New Jersey held in the Municipal Building on December 12, 2005 and the same came up for final passage at the Regular Meeting of the Township Council held on January 9, 2006, at which time, after persons interested were given an opportunity to be heard concerning said ordinance, the same was passed and will be in full force in the Township according to law.
