ORDINANCE #04-24
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE #84-14
BE IT ORDAINED by the Township Council of the Township
of Vernon, County of Sussex and State of New Jersey as
follows:
1. "Section 6: Penalties" of Ordinance #84-14 shall be
amended to read as follows:
SECTION 6: PENALTIES
In addition to the impoundment penalties set forth in
Section 5, for any violation of the terms of Section 3,
"Unlawful Acts", and Section 4 "General Regulations",
the offender shall be liable for a penalty of not less
than $250.00 or more than $1,000.00 and may be sentenced
to a period of community service not to exceed 90 days
for the first offense. For a second offense
which occurs within 10 years of a plea of guilty or a
conviction for a prior offense, the offender shall be
liable for a penalty of not less than $500.00 or more
than $1,000.00 and a period of community service of not
less than 10 days or more than 90 days. For
a third offense and for each subsequent offense which
occurs within 10 years of a plea of guilty or a conviction
for a prior offense, the offender shall be liable for
a penalty of $1,000.00 and a period of community service
not less than 30 days or more than 90 days.
2. "Section 3: Unlawful Acts" shall be amended by removing
the word "written" from paragraph "L."
3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances or resolutions
that are in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance
are repealed to the extent necessary.
4. If any article, section, subsection, term or condition
of this Ordinance is declared invalid or illegal for any
reason, the balance of the Ordinance shall be deemed severable
and shall remain in full force and effect.
5. This Ordinance shall take effect after publication
and passage according to law.
NOTICE
NOTICE
IS HEREBY GIVEN that the above ordinance was introduced
and passed on first reading at the Regular Meeting of
the Township Council of the Township of Vernon in the
County of Sussex, State of New Jersey held in the Municipal
Building on July 26, 2004 and the same came up for final
passage at the Regular Meeting of the Township Council
held on August 9, 2004, at which time, after persons interested
were given an opportunity to be heard concerning said
ordinance, the same was passed and will be in full force
in the Township according to law.
