Donation Clothing Bin Permits

Pursuant to Chapter 190 of Vernon’s code, organizations seeking to locate a donation clothing bin within the Township of Vernon must first apply for and obtain a valid permit from the zoning officer.

The annual permit fee (new or renewal) is $25.00 for the first bin and $10.00 for each additional bin owned by the same applicant. Permits are valid for one year.

In order to obtain a permit, the applicant must:

  • comply with all of the requirements set forth in N.J.S.A. 40:48-2.61
  • demonstrate that the proposed location is commercial property with an active principal use and that the placement of the clothing bin does not violate the property’s site plan nor will it create a safety hazard
  • certify that the clothing bin will be marked with the owner’s name, physical address and phone number
  • agree to provide the township with a quarterly report on the amount of textiles collected to be included in the township’s recycling report
