Vernon Experiences String of Burglaries

The Vernon Township Police Department is investigating a recent string of residential and vehicle burglaries which occurred in the Highland Lakes/Barry Lakes/Cliffwood Lakes/Lake Conway sections of the township.

Anyone with information regarding any of the following incidents is asked to contact the detective bureau at 973.764.6155.

  • January 24, 2012
    A home on Susan Valley Terrace was entered and jewelry and cash were removed.
  • January 6, 2012
    A home was entered on Acquanock Road and a handgun and laptop computer were taken.
  • December 13, 2011
    A home on Hilary Court was entered and the bedroom was ransacked.
  • December 9, 2011
    A home on Coon Den Road was entered and jewelry was taken.
  • November 3, 2011
    A vehicle was entered on Cedar Tree Drive and an iPad, GPS and clothing were stolen.
  • October 28, 2011
    A home on Birch Drive was entered and numerous items, including jewelry, firearms, electronics and a change jug, were taken.
  • October 17, 2011
    A home on Tranquility Drive was entered and jewelry was stolen.
  • October 17, 2011
    A residence on Grandview Drive was entered and jewelry was removed.
  • October 15, 2011
    A vehicle on Neosha Road was entered and a laptop was taken.

While the vehicles appeared to have been entered during nighttime hours, the residential burglaries occurred during daytime hours and the homes were forcibly entered.

Residents are reminded to be vigilant, lock all doors and windows and activate alarms if their homes are equipped with one. Additionally, please report any suspicious activity, person(s) and/or vehicles immediately at the time observed to the police department via 9-1-1 and/or the main police number at 973.764.6155.
