Project Alert Drug Education Program

Posted: October 11, 2013

In only one year, heroin deaths of 18-25 year-olds in New Jersey rose 24%! They didn’t start at 18…are you talking to your kids yet?

The Vernon Municipal Alliance Coalition (MAC), in conjunction with the Vernon Police Department and the Sussex County Center for Prevention and Counseling, is hosting Project Alert to educate parents/caregivers on the current drug trends, signs and symptoms of drug abuse in our community, including the habits and language.

The program will take place Friday, November 15, 2013 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Vernon Township Senior Citizen Center (located in the lower level of the municipal building).

It is being held at the same time as the Vernon PAL 5th/6th grade dance to give parents/caregivers the opportunity to drop their child(ren) at the dance and head right up the hill to this informative program. The program is open to any adult in the community and is not geared to children. Pizza will be provided.

Have questions or concerns? Please feel free to call Vernon PAL at 973.764.9514.

This program is funded by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
