Petition to Rescind JCP&L’s Franchise to Sell Energy to Residents of Vernon Township
Posted: November 13, 2012
Unhappy with JCP&L’s response following Hurricane Sandy? Sign the petition to remove JCP&L’s franchise to sell energy to residents of Vernon Township.
Paper copies of the petition are also available in every office at the municipal building.
JCP&L has a large footprint within the township and yet it treats its Vernon Township customers like second class citizens. It has consistently displayed a total disregard for the health, safety and well-being of Vernon Township residents.
JCP&L’s lack of response to Hurricane Sandy left many of its customers without power twelve days after Hurricane Sandy moved through New Jersey. During this same time frame, Sussex Rural Electric was able to restore power to 100% of Vernon residents within 72 hours post storm cessation.
The petition requests that JCP&L be forced to sell to Sussex Rural Electric, which would be more responsive to the needs of our residents.
