Upcoming Road Closure for Vernon Crossing

Beginning at 7:00 a.m., Monday, September 20, 2021 until Friday, September 24, 2021, Vernon Crossing Road (CR 644) will be closed at the RR crossing and detoured in both directions to the nearest crossing at Rt. 94 and Sand Hill Rd. but will allow local traffic only for business and commercial access. The existing at-grade railroad crossing pavement and rubber panels will be removed and replaced with new concrete panels and asphalt approaches.

The following detours will be in place:

Vernon Crossing Rd. (CR 644) eastbound

  • Vehicles wanting to travel eastbound on Vernon Crossing Rd. (CR 644) to cross the tracks will be directed to travel south on Sand Hill Road
  • Turn left onto Rt. 94
  • Turn left at the Rt. 94 & CR 515 intersection to remain on Rt. 94 which intersects Vernon Crossing Rd. (CR 644) on the east side of the tracks

Vernon Crossing Rd. (CR 644) westbound

  • Vehicles wanting to travel westbound on Vernon Crossing Rd. (CR 644) to cross the tracks wiII be directed to travel west on Rt. 94
  • Turn right at the Rt. 94 & CR 515 intersection to remain on Rt. 94
  • Turn right onto Sand Hill Road which intersects Vernon Crossing Rd. (CR 644) on the west side of the tracks

9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

Join us on Saturday, September 11, 2021 as Mayor Burrell hosts a remembrance ceremony with members from all Vernon fire departments, EMS, police and VFW attending to pay tribute to those who perished on that unforgettable day.

The ceremony will take place at 9:00 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on Vernon Crossing Road and will include guest speakers, a wreath laying ceremony and a 21-gun salute.

For those who wish to attend, please wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.
