Vernon Night Out
Posted: July 15, 2019
Due to expected inclement weather, this event has been postponed until Thursday night, August 8, 2019.
On Wednesday, August 7, 2019, join the police department, civic groups and other agencies from throughout the area at Vernon’s Night Out. Rain date is August 8.
The free event will take place at Maple Grange Park on Maple Grange Road in Vernon from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and is sponsored by Vernon Township, Vernon Township Police Department, Vernon PAL and the Vernon Coalition to be Drug Free.
The night will include fun attractions such as live music with The Scott Britt Band, a petting zoo, archery tag from Crystal Springs, Atlantic Health’s Medivac helicopter and more plus all kinds of food will be available for purchase.
This will also give us an opportunity promote resources such as the C.L.E.A.R. Program (Community Law Enforcement Addiction Recovery), Operation Helping Hand and other initiatives that exist to help fight the opiate epidemic in our own backyard.
Electronic Waste Recycling Day
Posted: July 10, 2019
The Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority (SCMUA) will be conducting an electronic waste recycling event on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at its facilities located at 34 South Route 94 in Lafayette. This program is available to Sussex County residents, businesses, school districts and municipalities.
According to the SCMUA, it holds this type of disposal event to keep hazardous materials and heavy metals such as lead, mercury, nickel and cadmium—commonly found in household electronics—from polluting our environment.
Examples of acceptable e-waste items:
- computer peripherals such as keyboards and mice
- fax machines
- DVD & CD players
- stereo equipment
- cell phones
Residents may bring up to five electronic items for disposal free of charge per vehicle. For larger quantities, please consult the SCMUA website or contact them at 973.579.6998.
