This initiative, which involves the installation of prescription drug disposal drop boxes at participating New Jersey police departments, lets the public dispose of unused and expired prescription medications safely, securely and anonymously. The opportunity is available seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The Project Medicine Drop box is in the lobby of police department headquarters which is located in the lower level of the municipal building at 21 Church Street in Vernon.
For safety reasons, the drop box can only accept solid medications such as pills, patches, inhalers, and similar objects. Liquids, medical waste and syringes are not permitted.

Remember Our Fallen, One Wreath at a Time
Posted: October 7, 2016
Please note the wreath laying ceremony date is now Sunday, December 18, 2016.
The Vernon Township School District is sponsoring a local Wreaths Across America (WAA) effort this year.
Wreaths Across America began in 2006 as an offshoot of the Arlington National Cemetery wreath project to remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach our children the value of freedom.
Wreaths Across America groups will help adorn veteran memorials and grave sites in all 50 states with red-ribboned remembrance wreaths this holiday season.
To learn more about the organization and its mission and to donate, visit the WAA website.
Your wreath sponsorship of $15.00 will honor a fallen hero by placing a wreath on his or her grave. By sponsoring a wreath, you are also supporting a scholarship that has been set up through the Vernon Township School District for a graduating senior(s) who meets the criteria of the scholarship.
To donate via the website, click on Donate, then Sponsor a wreath with a local fundraising group. In the search box type: NJ0062P (for SSG Van Blarcom Military Service Tribute Scholarship, Glenwood Cemetery). The deadline to sponsor is November 30, 2016.
The wreath laying ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery (926 Route 517 in Vernon). You need not sponsor a wreath to attend—all are welcome to participate in this meaningful ceremony.
