Minutes: August 11, 2011

The Vernon Township Senior Board meeting was called to order at 9:40 a.m. by Betty Glass.

Present

All members of the board and Melissa Wiedbrauk, Director of Recreation & Community Affairs.

Minutes

The minutes of the last meeting on May 12, 2011 were read and accepted by Arthur, seconded by Josephine.

New Business

Two separate signups were agreed to by the board for the Maple Grange Park picnic and Octoberfest.

Maple Grange Park picnic will be held September 1, 2011, rain date September 2, 2011. Signup will be at the senior center August 18, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The cost will be $4.00 for Vernon residents and $6.00 for non-residents. Seniors only. Limit 75 persons.

Octoberfest will be held at the senior center on October 4, 2011. Signup at the center September 20, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The cost will be $4.00 for Vernon residents and $6.00 for non-residents. Limit 60 persons (a tentative number).

For the Maple Grange picnic, the board members will furnish the desserts.

A motion was made by Fran that Mary can accept signups for both affairs at the center. Motion made and accepted by Layton, seconded by Fran.

A motion was made by Layton that all members of the board will keep their same positions until December 31, 2011. Motion was passed.

A motion was made by Betty that members of the board cannot be absent more than three meetings a year, without just cause, at which time they must resign. This motion was tabled.

The Christmas party will be held at the senior center on December 15, 2011. Signup will be at the center November 30, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Tickets $7.00, Vernon residents only.

The board welcomed Melissa to our meeting.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Layton and seconded by Fran. The motion passed unanimously at 10:35 a.m.
