Recreation Director Report
Discussion on the welcome banners throughout town. Working on getting seasons, not just holidays. Possible renting of poles for advertising. Would have to sub out changing as township doesn’t have a bucket truck.
Announcer’s Booth—Constructed by the football association with donations from council. Currently about 1/2 donations were used. Sponsors buy ads for signage etc. Lakeland Bank has bought and sponsored the scoreboard.
Council approved snack bar to be built, with overhang. Could be rented out to other groups for revenue. Approximately $200,000 to build. Discussion followed on prefab building. 30' X 60' concession and picnic area. Large area for service also. Once ordered, 11-12 weeks to ship. Construction would go out to bids. Needed in addition: septic, foundation, water faucets and slop sink. Metal roof.
Motion: Don/Mary. Motion to support building of concession stand as discussed. Passed.
Township sports and PAL went live on line Monday. All classes were sold out in one day except one.
Website done for each department by each department.
Hopefully in the near future there will be more live on lines (i.e., animal licenses).
Donation program is going well with selling of benches and trees.
Council approved purchase of plow to keep Maple Grange Path clear.
Emergency lighting for fields.
Fencing and electric is at the fields but turns off at set times.
Mary will look into solar powered lights at the Maple Grange Path.
Lacrosse tournament being set up for 2009-2010. The tournaments will take place at the HS fields, 2 at Maple Grange Park and will consist of 10-12 teams playing at a time. Each game is approximately 50 minutes. Looking to June and July dates for 2010.
Dog Park Update
Environmental Committee—We should work closely with them for open space projects, as with the hiking and canoe project.
Skate Park Update
Mountain Creek offered to lease property to town at south for it. Group is applying for 501(c)(3).
Need to organize a playground committee to rebuild the playgrounds. Another idea is a spray park—no pools.
Open to Public
No public in attendance.
