Board of Recreation

About the Board

The Vernon Township Board of Recreation acts in an advisory capacity with respect to functions such as the establishment of rules for township parks and facilities, program development, capital acquisitions, facility improvements and maintenance, anticipated fees and program participation levels, etc.

It makes recommendations, reviews recreation initiatives, engages volunteers and promotes the township’s parks and recreation programs.

The board consists of up to seven township residents and two alternates, all of whom are appointed by the mayor and serve a five year term.

The board generally holds its regularly scheduled meetings on the first Wednesday of each month. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. and are held in the senior center at the municipal building at 21 Church Street in Vernon.

Meeting notices are posted on the bulletin board at the municipal building and advertised in the New Jersey Herald.
