Reorganization Meeting Minutes

Statement of Compliance

Pursuant to the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 231 P.L., 1975, adequate notice as defined in Section 3D of Chapter 231, P.L., 1975, had been forwarded to the New Jersey Herald on January 15, 2016. Notice is also posted on the bulletin board and filed with the office of the township clerk.

Chairman Charles Bates called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.

Chairman Bates stated that Lauren Kirkman had received a letter from Michael Furrey resigning from the Vernon Township Historic Preservation Commission effective December 31, 2015.

Charles Bates opened the meeting to the public and kept it open throughout the duration of the meeting.

Year End Report

With reference to those items that Charles and Jessie Paladini listed on the meeting minutes of December 3, 2015 and if everybody is okay with the kinds of things that we discussed or performed during the course of 2015 Charles will write a paragraph and send it to the mayor and subsequently to the township council members. Is that okay?

All approved.

4. Reorganization Meeting

Charles Bates stated that Christopher Hanke who has been the vice-chairperson for a few years and stated that he would like to move on. Charles opened the floor for names that would be the new vice-chairperson. Dee Franklin asked for verification of what the duties of the vice-chairperson and Christopher stated that the duties were to take over the meeting when the chairman is not available or cannot be at a public presentation. He runs errands if needed and keeps track of paperwork. Charles stated that it is an invaluable position for whoever he or she might be. It’s phone calls, emails back and forth to make the system work. Ted Laabs stated that the position of vice-chair has a very strong roll to play within the organization, in terms of fulfilling many of the tasks and duties that are done.

Wayne McCabe a member of the public stated that you can make what you want of the job. It is something you can grow into and you shouldn’t shy away from it because it might be a monumental effort on your part.

Charles Bates nominated Christopher Hanke for vice-chairperson of the committee. Valerie Seufert seconded the motion. Vote for him to become the vice-chairman for the annual year of 2016.

Nays: None

Charles then asked for names for chairperson.

Dee Franklin volunteered for the position. Valerie Seufert made a motion for Dee Franklin to be chairperson. Charles asked if there were any other names to go forward. Charles closed nominations. Charles called for a vote.

Valerie Seufert made a motion to approve the 2016 dates and Christopher Hanke made an observation that the original date for September was not the original date and we changed from September 8 to September 1 to reflect the first Thursday of the month.

Valerie Seufert made the motion to approve the revised dates for the year 2016. Charles asked for any discussion, there was none.

Nays: None

Charles asked for a motion to continue a relationship with the New Jersey Herald like it states in the statement of compliance. Christopher Hanke made the motion.

Christopher Hanke made a motion to close the reorganization meeting at 7:33 p.m. Charles Bates seconded the motion.
