Mr. Bates called the meeting to order at 7:16 p.m.
Statement of Compliance
Pursuant to the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 231, P.L. 1975 adequate notice as defined in Section 3D of Chapter 231, P.L. 1975 had been forwarded to the New Jersey Herald on January 26, 2009 and published on January 28, 2009. Notice is also posted on the bulletin board and filed with the office of the Township Clerk.

Minutes
Ms. Cheadle made a motion to approve the minutes of the HPC regular meeting minutes of December 17, 2009. Mr. Wetzel seconded the motion. All were in favor.
Meeting Opened to the Public
Ms. Jessi Paladini came forward and indicated that she , Sharon Cheadle and Dennis Miranda will be viewing the scenic byways area from Route 515 (from Route 23) to the Warwick, New York border with the thought of including this as a historic district. Ms. Paladini also made the members aware of the need to be part of the Master Plan for purposes of historic designation.
Closed Meeting to the Public
Special Presentation by Ms. Robin Kline, Township Clerk
Ms. Kline advised that everyone who is a member of a committee or commission in Vernon Township must fill out a financial disclosure statement.
Old Business
Economic Development Advisory Committee
Mr. Wetzel reports that the committee continues to meet to work on encouraging the Vernon Township community to be interested in business development.
Status of Historical Preservation of Cemeteries in Vernon Township
Ms. Cheadle and Mr. Cantaldi are ready to assume responsibility to chart (GPS) the cemeteries when the weather cooperates.
Status of Mastodon Lake Marker
Mr. Bates will pursue this with Karen Driscoll before erecting a sign on the property.
Discussion of a Possible Marker for Board of Education Building
All members will work on wordage for next meeting.
Application for High Breeze Farm Designation
No information as yet as to the status of this application after handing it to the Township Clerk.
New Business
Members will evaluate what the next structure is to be memorialized. Carol Kadish suggested Burnt House Hill structure that she is interested in pursuing.
Information was shared that Drew University is hosting several courses on preservation.
