Minutes: August 22, 2006
Meeting was called to order by Brenda Susman at 8:01 p.m.
Statement of Compliance
The following statement of compliance was read by Brenda Susman.
Pursuant to the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 231, P.L. 1975 adequate notice as defined in Section 3D of Chapter 231, P.L. 1975 has been communicated from the Vernon Municipal Center to the New Jersey Herald and published on January 20, 2006. Notice is also posted on the bulletin board and filed with the office of the Township Clerk.
Salute to Flag
The roll call of members was called and Dennis Downey, Michael Furrey (arrived 8:10 p.m.), David Gornstein, Gary Grey and Brenda Susman answered the call.
Open Meeting to the Public
No members of the public were present.
Approval of Meeting Minutes
David Gornstein made a motion to approve the August 8, 2006 minutes as amended; Dennis Downey seconded the motion.
Applications Under Review
PB #6-06-8: Crystal Springs Builders LLC—Revised Major Site Plan and Environmental Impact Statement
The EC reviewed the application and agreed the seasonal high water table may be an ESA. The LOI has not been received to date.
PB #8-06-10: Mountain Creek—Revised Major Site Plan & Subdivision
The EC reviewed the revised application and agreed on the following:
- Suggest the use of pervious pavement/surface in the parking lots.
- Storm water run-off must be prevented from entering the Black Creek.
Planning Board Liaison Report
David Gornstein reported the planning board meeting was cancelled.
Open Space Tax
The resolution allowing the open space referendum to be on the November ballot is currently before the town council.
Shade Tree Ordinance
Brenda Susman reported she will be make a presentation to the town council in August or September regarding the shade tree ordinance. Michael Furrey and David Gornstein suggested Brenda Susman present the town council with a draft of the ordinance and a letter stating the EC’s consensus prior to the meeting.
There being no further items of business for the regular meeting, a motion was made by Michael Furrey to adjourn the meeting; David Gornstein seconded the motion. The regular meeting of the Vernon Township Environmental Commission was adjourned at 9:36 p.m.
