Minutes: November 4, 2020
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Vernon Township Economic Advisory Committee meeting was convened at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2020 in the Vernon Municipal Building, 21 Church Street, Vernon, New Jersey.
STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE
Pursuant to the Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-6, adequate notice of this regular meeting has been provided to the public and the press on January 3, 2020 and was posted on the bulletin board the municipal building in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act.

Ed DeYoung motioned to open the meeting to the public. John Perry seconded it. All were in favor. Will Brown was present to speak. He shared the ideas and plans he submitted to Vernon’s Land Use Board to expand the uses of his farm, the former Rickey Farm, on Route 94. Mr. Brown is a farmer and has intentions of expanding the Route 94 location to include a farm store for his products as well as the products of other local farmers. He also plans to expand one of the existing barns to incorporate the accommodation of artisan stores and a venue place. Mr. Brown spoke of “glamping,” a modern twist on camping, that may be located at the top of the property. Parking and restrooms are also in the plan. He will ask for these approvals at the January 2021 land use board meeting. The general consensus of the EDC members was agreement that this plan was good for Vernon, as it fits very well with the expansion of agri-ecotourism in Vernon and expressed well wishes for Mr. Brown’s project. John Perry motioned to close the meeting to the public. Ed DeYoung seconded it. All were in favor to close to the public.
VOTE ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 MINUTES
Ed DeYoung motioned to approve the minutes. Seconded by Sally Rinker. All were in favor.
Sally Rinker reported that the project to complete the EDAC web pages is progressing with the hope to finish them by year end.
Chair, Sally Rinker reported that the mayor responded to our concerns about changing the name of Main Street to 2020 Senior Drive. That is now no longer the plan and 2020 Senior Drive with be posted without removing the name Main Street. As to our advisement for the town to not purchase the Baldwin property for trails or recreation because it is a town center zoned parcel with the ability to hookup to sewer, there is no response yet. Sally Rinker reported that Mayor Burrell has asked if the EDAC would be willing to relinquish $3,000 of our budget for “Four Season Banners” for the town, leaving $1,386.80 in our 2020 budget. All members readily agreed.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS’ COMMENTS
John Perry stated how impressive the flags looked that were placed in honor of veterans in the center of town. Sally Rinker mentioned that they were done by Vernon Rotary.
John Perry made a motion to adjourn. Ed DeYoung seconded it. All were in favor.
The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
