The daily operation of the Vernon Township Recycling Center is now being run by the Department of Public Works. As in the past, the same items are being accepted: glass, plastic, tin and aluminum cans, cardboard, mixed paper and newspaper. In addition to those items, the Recycling Center now accepts batteries, used motor oil, scrap metal and white goods (large household items such as washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers and air conditioners) and used clothing bins. A receptacle is also provided for electronic items, which consist of computers/laptops, monitors, printers, fax machines, scanners, televisions, computer peripherals, keyboards, mice and other devices; DVD and VCR players, stereos, etc. At this time, a receptacle is not provided for leaf and brush collection.
